1930s fuel can cap coins

These coins are made from a selection of 1930s brass caps from vintage English fuel cans.

For each cap, the threads were cut off by hand, as were the taps used to open the cans,

Then, the cuts were hand lapped before polishing.

These coins were then etched by The Witches Blacksmith with a vintage motor racing theme:

These coins are currently available on my Etsy.

Oil slick thread coins

Not wanting to waste the thread offcuts, I hand profiled the edges from the cuts and filled them with resin and mica powder

These were finished with the “as cured” gloss resin on the outer edge

and wet sanded to 3000 grit on the smooth face, which made for a very tactile finish

These are currently pending refinish as the original resin retained an odour after curing, which wasn’t satisfactory. When these are ready again, they will be available on my Etsy.
