The Guitar Kleevr

Following an initial journey into pick making, I decided to make something I’m fairly sure hasn’t been done before.

The idea for a cleaver shaped pick came to me looking at an offcut having cut some blanks for some extra large clear acrylic picks, which happened to resemble a cleaver.

Having bevelled and shaped it, I frosted the handle with a 320grit disk on an orbital sander.

The pick plays surprisingly well, tremolo picking is tricky as you’d expect, but pinched harmonics are easily achieved. Additionally, the polished acrylic bevel works reasonably well as a slide, adding for some interesting options while playing.

This pick is now in the possession of John Tron Davidson of Heavy Repping.
