This is a post I’ve been looking forward to writing for a very long time.
For those who’ve not been following this story, this is my first guitar, a Westfield Strat copy, complete with a plywood body nailed together in some places.
For reference, initially I named this project “plywoodstrat” and gave it a matching hashtag for Instagram; however, I later settled on the Napier Railton theme, hence the double title.

Some time ago, I bought an old Cort/Mach I headless bass. After going through a few design ideas, I decided to fix it up, modify it to suit my playing style and give it a special paint job.
After a visit to Ochanomizu “Guitar street” in Tokyo, I realised I had to have a pure korina guitar as a sister to my black limba T-type.
Many years ago, my uncle made a coffee table at school. After being passed around the family over the decades, it came into my possession with the instruction “make a guitar out of it”.

An increasingly long time ago, I purchased a black Les Paul body from eBay for the princely sum of £10. It was definitely from a Japanese copy, but it was never clear by which company.

I decided after a lot of thought that I really like the idea of a Telecaster, but hadn’t seen one that I liked. Browsing around the Fender custom shop site, I got a few ideas and set about deciding what I wanted in a Telecaster.
This guitar has since been sold.
